UNESCO and UNDP Launch New Project to Strengthen Peacebuilding Efforts in Kyrgyzstan.

UNESCO and UNDP have joined forces with the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, civil society organizations, community media, youth groups, women-led organizations, and human rights organizations to launch a new project titled "Strengthening National Capacities for Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding: Meaningful Civil Society Engagement for Trust-Building and Social Cohesion." The project will run from January 2023 to December 2025 and will focus on building trust and social cohesion in Alamedin and Sokuluk districts of Chui province, as well as the cities of Osh, Uzgen, Jalal-Abad, Batken, and Razzakov.
The project aims to:
Enhance horizontal and vertical trust through improved government mechanisms, dialogical decision-making, and holistic action for inter-group dialogue, inclusivity, and accountability.
Build long-term and sustainable institutional capacity of Peacebuilding Coordination Councils (PCCs) to effectively address current social cohesion challenges.
Encourage collective action, pooling funding sources, and joint programming of partners to implement comprehensive social cohesion strategies.
