Genocide Watch staff have published the eighteenth Timestream in a series of critical genocides in the world.
This Timestream discusses Indonesia's invasion and occupation of Timor-Leste, formerly East Timor, from 1975-1999. During this time, Indonesia committed genocide, with between 100,000-200,000 East Timorese dying during this 24-year period. The 1999 referendum for independence caused another spike in violence committed by the Indonesian military and militias. Officials have taken little to no accountability for the genocide and continue to resist ongoing investigations and trials.
