Fundraising and Development Manager
Genocide Watch and the Alliance Against Genocide were founded in 1999 and were the world's first international anti-genocide coalition. Genocide Watch has a dedicated international volunteer staff. In the coming year, we plan to hire paid employees to carry us into the future.
Genocide Watch is searching for an experienced fundraising manager with excellent leadership skills and networking abilities. The fundraising manager will be responsible for researching potential sources of grants, building good relationships with prospective donors, applying for grants, and communicating with the Genocide Watch President and fundraising team.
The applicant should have compelling writing and speaking skills. Prior fundraising experience is highly desirable. The applicant must be passionately committed to genocide prevention.
Applicants should familiarize themselves with Genocide Watch, the Alliance Against Genocide and Dr. Stanton’s Ten Stages of Genocide before applying for this position. While this position will mainly focus on raising funds and managing budgets, the opportunity to write reports, blog articles and contribute to Genocide Watch’s advocacy efforts is also open. This is a virtual, unpaid volunteer position. When funds are raised, it will become a paid job.
Fundraising Manager Responsibilities:
Conducting research on funding sources for human rights.
Coordinating with Alliance Against Genocide members for joint fundraising.
Writing funding proposals and submitting these to potential donors.
Preparing annual budgets, accounting, and filing annual reports and tax returns.
Establishing regular communications with foundation, corporate and private donors.
Planning and implementing marketing strategies and promotional campaigns.
Organizing and attending non-profit events and networking with donors.
Establishing good relationships with staff, members of the public, and the media.
Fundraising Manager Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Passion for prevention of genocide.
Experience applying for grants and fundraising in the non-profit sector.
Experience using fundraising tools such as Candid and Foundation Directory Online.
Excellent written, verbal, and donor relations skills.
