Wiper Party leader and NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka on Thursday warned that the two main political formations in the country must dialogue now or risk doing it when the country is in conflict.
Speaking in Kitui West Constituency, Kalonzo linked the current political impasse to perennial electoral injustice vowing that the vice must be put to an end.
“I really feel pained for my country. I do not want to make any other plea. I am only a leader who feels concerned by the status quo,” said Kalonzo.
The former Vice President cited the recent call for dialogue by the United Nations (UN) to Kenya’s political class as a key reason why President Uhuru Kenyatta must engage the opposition before the situation gets worse.
“I don’t know why people are allergic to the truth. As it stands I can only pray that God helps Kenya,” said Kalonzo.
Mr. Musyoka further blasted Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko for what he termed as blatant sabotage of the people’s right to assemble.
“The constitution gives every Kenyan the right to assemble. It is very unfortunate that a governor can frustrate a public gathering by smearing human waste on a public event’s venue,” said Kalonzo.
This comes after the governor on Wednesday January 24, closed Uhuru Park after the opposition coalition had indicated it will hold the swearing in of the opposition chiefs on the grounds.
