Details
The Lukashenko government has beaten, detained, imprisoned, and tortured protestors while in power. Alexander Lukashenko has won every presidential election since 1994; all of his incumbent campaigns have been declared not to be free or fair. The country's recent border crisis with Poland, as well as the impending Russian invasion of neighboring Ukraine, have exasterbated political tensions.
