Details
Western Sahara independence groups have been engaged in conflict with Morocco over the sovereignty of Western Sahara’s territory since Spain ended colonial rule in 1975. Since then, war has driven 158,000 Sahrawi people into refugee camps in Algeria and the country has been divided by a 2700km wall built by the Moroccan army. Moroccans now outnumber Sahrawis in Western Sahara.
