Details
Eritrea is among the most oppressed and censored countries in the world due to decrees that grant President Isaias Afwerki total power to target civil rights and silence media. In late 2020, the Ethiopian military invaded the Tigray region of Ethiopia with the tacit consent of the Ethiopian government, as both countries see the Tigrayan Peoples Liberation Front (TPLF) as a common enemy. Eritrean soldiers have targeted ethnic Tigrayans with pillage, mass rape, and genocidal massacres.
