Yemen’s civil war between the Yemeni government, backed by the Saudi-led coalition, and the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels has created the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. Over 200,000 Yemenis have died since the conflict began in 2015, 80% of Yemenis rely on humanitarian aid, and over ten million are on the brink of starvation.
Houthi rebels, the Yemeni government, the Saudi-led coalition, and UAE-backed forces have all committed war crimes by deliberately targeting civilians. Despite the announcement of a ceasefire in April 2022, its recent collapse raises questions about the sustainability of any future agreement.
