Details

The Malaysian government's repression of free speech and public protests remains pervasive. Ethnic and racial minorities face discrimination in political and social life. Malaysia violates its international legal obligations by forcibly returning refugees to Myanmar where they are likely to experience persecution. The state runs 'rehabilitation' camps to 'convert' LGBTQ+ people and criminalizes same sex relationships.
